Sticks&Stones “Specialty Store” Launch Party 2/4

Sticks&Stones is one of those companies that makes you proud to be from Portland. Like all things Portland-centric (i.e your favorite band/choicest caf
é/secret vintage score shop) you tend to think that they’re flying under the radar until you realize that everyone is in fact clued in but they haven’t sold out— and so they retain underground credibility.
S&S create unusual accessories that juxtapose the natural and man-made world by utilizing materials including reclaimed exotic woods, fossils, prehistoric ivories, fine metals and gem stones. That translates into a mixture of mostly sustainable and decidedly high end materials— and really what could be more Portland than combining reclaimed deer antlers and affixing a gem stone? It exemplifies PNW pseudo-lumberjack chic. With which, everyone from here to the east coast is currently charmed.

Sticks&Stones has been operating since 2009 without a storefront, and mighty successfully I might add, being featured in fashion bible Nylon and fashion mecca Neiman Marcus. Thankfully, S&S is now giving us locals the pleasure of opening a storefront where not only can we admire and try on swag in person, everything there is one-of-a-kind and limited edition, custom order and specialty [READ: not available anywhere else]. Sticks&Stones very deservedly scored prime retail real estate on NW 23rd in a shared space called “The Specialty Store”. Just who are they sharing the space with, you ask? None other than Portland mainstay Reynold’s Optical, who have been locally owned for over 100 years and sell a stellar variety of frames. Adding to the space are handpicked apparel brands from all over North America including Pvblic (NYC), Muttonhead (Toronto), Wool and the Gang (NYC), Designer Drugs(Chicago) and local friends Harding & Wilson (PDX).

His&hers(or his&his/hers&hers) for V-day?

S’okay let’s talk Valentine’s. What is more perfect than jewelry? How about locally-made, semi-sustainable, one-of-a-kind pieces? Shop unisex handcrafted styles ranging from rings, to necklaces to cuff-links and more. Pieces from S&S range from their fun, colorful (and beloved) Candy Paints collection to prehistoric fossils, to pieces set with black diamonds and white sapphires. For someone who wants thoughtful and unique accessories, this is the place. Their hosting an opening party this Saturday, Feb 4th and throwing 25% off their in-store stock. While’st your shopping, they’ll be beer from Widmer, food courtesy of Saucebox and live music a lá DJ’s LIONSDEN & EASTER EGG, and if you’re still looking to score a Valentine— arguably some of the best looking people in Portland .
