Spring/Summer 2012 Celebrity Campaigns

Celebrities helping fashion houses slang their goods is at times brilliant and at times head-scratching. This technique has presented us with such conundrums as SJP’s back-in-the-day campaign for GAP (whaa?Carrie Bradshaw in khakis?) and Fergie’s current campaign for WET&WILD Cosmetics (The Ferg’s in dollar-store makeup?).
Alexander Wang debuted his beautiful basics collection “T by Alexander Wang” and unveiled his campaign ad to exclusively feature South African rappers DIE ANTWOORD and their tunes. I think it’s brilliant, juxtaposing Wang’s stunningly minimalist designs with D.A’s hyper-caricatured, hyper-active, hyper-huh-ed? act. Wang knew exactly what he was doing, as DIE ANTWOORD are playing a sold out show at the Roseland here in Portland tonight. Here’s some highlight’s of celeb/designer collabo’s for Spring/Summer 2012:
