Isaac Hers Goldstruck Fashion Show
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the Isaac Hers Fall 2011 Collection presentation at the Portland Design Collective. I went away with two things from that show; first it was very refreshing to see such a well produced solo show from a local and independent designer, and two the whole collection was outstanding and I could easily see the models walk straight from the runway to the street because everything was so effortless and wearable.
The title of the collection is “Goldstruck” and it is inspired by the Oregon high desert. While there was some gold in the collection (including gold glitter under the model’s eyes which had an ethereal yet haunting effect and a gold fitted bomber jacket that might just well be the Fall staple every girl will want) there were many other colors in the collection color palette that were right on theme. Blacks, grays, blues, and reds were mixed in with plaids in a array of different fabrications and styles. This collection also included the signature color blocked stylelines and chevrons we have seen in previous collections along with asymmetrical and flowing silhouettes. Models somberly walking down the runway with clouds and scenes of the Oregon high desert projected behind them with blues music playing tied the show and theme together and made for a night and collection I will not soon be forgetting.
