Amai Unmei. Such a sweet, sweet destiny.

Allison Covington is the creative inspiration behind Amai Unmei. Since 2006 she has been producing easy to wear frocks from her studio right here in Portland. Her use of silky fabrics mixed with bold prints, constructed in time-honored silhouettes all add up to garments that speak to the fashionable sophisticate.
Included in her collections are throwbacks to the 1960’s day dress, blouses kissed with kimono inspiration, bold and chunky jewelry and even make-your-teeth-hurt sweet wedding dresses.

Amai Unmei’s 2009 appearance at Portland Fashion Week included an impressive showing of garments. For me, the appearance of delicate sheers and lovely lace overlays, balanced by the aforementioned bold patterns and solid black detailing, were among the standout looks. Check it out for yourself, on Portland Fashion Week’s YouTube channel.

Amai Unmei will be showing at PFW on Friday, October 8th.
Portland. Move Fashion. Forward.
Models in the 2010 Portland Fashion Week in just 9 days will walk on SolarWorld’s chic, black solar panel runway. Solarworld and Portland Fashion Week, together, are breaking new ground on sustainable development of two of the world’s biggest industries – fashion and energy.
But it doesn’t stop there!
A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to help Portland-area schools teach or install solar power systems in a partnership between Portland Fashion Week and SolarWorld USA. You can add a donation to help reach more schools and children. Solar projects on schools served by Portland General Electric will also be eligible for cash incentives from the Energy Trust of Oregon.
With everything from world-famous designers, local high-fashion luminaries, commercial, artisan & emerging talent, and un-rivaled production, we hope you’ll join us for the best Portland Fashion Week yet.

Those of you who attended last years Fashion Week might tell you that the row by row seating call took a little long. Never fear, this year it will be a new method of getting everyone nestled in their folding fashion chair to get the fashion rolling! The new method will be ASSIGNED SEATS after you check in.
No more waiting in line for a long time to get to your row! That’s how you stay fashionably organized.

"[It] offers select designers, who are geared towards low production numbers of high-quality, hand-constructed, high-fashion garments, an opportunity to have total creative & artistic control of their own 12x8-foot space to present up to 8 looks to a packed house of Portland Fashion Week attendees. There’s NO CHARGE to the invited or juried designers, AND they get to participate in the PFW Market event at NO FEE and KEEP 100% of their sales."
Chris Cone, Executive producer of PFW, on the Presentation show featured at Opening night.

DID YOU KNOW…
All of Wyatt Orr’s garments are manufactured in the United States. Supporting desigers that keep production local is just part of what makes PFW sustainable and eco-friendly.
The gray tones used in both outerwear and a number of their dresses is so very reminiscent of Pacific-Northwest weather. The color story combined with fun, impeccable detailing made last year’s line feel young, relevant and very wearable. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been a sucker for piping lately and hope to see some more of that this time around.
Wyatt Orr will be showing on Thursday, October 7th. See you there!

Wyatt Orr is comprised of designers Liise Wyatt and Karly Orr. Last year, having both recently graduated from Seattle based New York Fashion Academy the pair had only a number of weeks to pull together their 2010 Spring/Summer line…
…Just imagine what they’re going to do this year without the stress of graduaton!
