When I went by Phlox last week to snap a couple of photos of the beautiful clothes in the boutique’s window, I ran into Barbara Seipp, owner of Phlox and designer of Isaac Hers. I’ve got to say I was a little surprised to see her coming out of the shop as it was late in the evening… but that just goes to show you… owning and operating one of the most chic boutiques in Portland requires uber-dedication and crazy-long hours.  The fashion junkies in PDX, which I am surely one of, are undoubtedly grateful.  While talking with Seipp in front of her shop located on N. Mississippi she informed me that there are some huge changes coming for Phlox in the not so distant future.  Be sure to keep your eyes open and an ear to the ground for the next little bit to find out what I’m talking about.  For now, I’ll leave you with these great window shots, and also a link to the most recent Phlox Boutique reality webisode.  I am completely addicted to these, there are ten in total and they walk you through the life of Barbara Seipp: Boutique owner and Fashion Designer.  So here it is, Isaac Hers on the Runway & Backstage at Portland Fashion Week 2010.   While you’re watching, keep an eye out for yours truly and other PFW staffers!

Stylish Portland Windows:  IDOM

Due to the enormous response we received from Portland Fashion Weekly readers about the Popina window display blog post, we’re going to start a weekly posting of other great boutique windows here in Portland.  Our first in this series, IDOM.

IDOM was started by designer Modi Soondarotok as a boutique for designers who have sustainable fashion in mind.  With an in-house label, of the same name, IDOM provides clean, modern, and original clothes for the fashion-forward thinker.

For the Love of Fashion: Popina this Valentine’s day.

So I bet you’re assuming that I’m about to tell you that the best gift your mate can give you this Valentine’s Day is a Popina Swimsuit.  Well that is obviously not the right answer.  The best gift that special someone can get you for this year’s big V-day is a two week stay in the coral islands of the Maldives Republic.  Which, by the way, I just checked the weather for Monday and although they list no high (or low) temperature, they do assure us it will be “Mostly Fine”.  Ah, the good life.  Anyhow, I digress.  During your stay in this, or any other, archipelago it is very necessary that you have a Popina swimsuit with you.  As if Popina’s uber-flattering, retro suits weren’t enough of a reason to shop with them, I was elated to learn that the Popina staff works with founder and designer of the brand, Pamela Levenson, and have involvement in both the design and construction of all of the swimwear.  That means they can set you up with a suit that fits your figure like no other.  Now if that isn’t the (almost) best Valentine’s gift ever, I don’t know what is.  Meet you at the Equator!!
